Our “Components for Mobile Radio Base Stations” brochure provides an overview of the complete product portfolio.

Classic transmission of RF signals over coaxial cables

Transmission and reception signals are transmitted by carrier frequencies between 700 MHz and 2.7 GHz, depending on the mobile radio generation and network. Low-attenuation corrugated cables of different diameters are used to minimise the attenuation losses between the base station and the antenna. Typically, these corrugated cables are dimensioned 1/2″, 7/8″, 1 1/4″ and 1 5/8″. Telegärtner offers matching connectors of the SIMFix® series suitable for these cables. The SIMFix® CA connectors were developed especially for 7/8″ cables. They are designed for use with cables with either copper or aluminium outer conductors. In addition to their excellent electrical performance in regard to return loss and passive intermodulation, they also guarantee resistance to ambient influences thanks to a three-stage sealing concept. This imperviousness to outdoor influences is also invaluable in such applications.

3-fold protecion concept

Protection step 1:
An O-ring on the jacket of the cable. This guarantees reliable protection against the ingress of water in normal applications of an undamaged cable.

Protection step2:
A special sealing to the outer conductor of the cable.
Damage of the cable’s outer jacket poses the danger that water will enter the connector between the outer jacket and the outer conductor of the cable. Here, a digital signal is transmitted from the base station to the RRH by a fiber optic cable. The digital signal is converted into an RF signal with the appropriate carrier frequencies in the RRH. The RF signal is then transmitted over the last few metres to the antennas by corrugated coaxial cables (jumper cables). Telegärtner offers the suitable FO outer cables, connectors and distributor boxes for transmission over FO cables.

Data transmission using twisted-pair cables and fiber optic cables within the base station

Since the RF signal is generated outside the base station when using Remote Radio Heads, twisted-pair and fiber optic cables are generally used for the data transmission inside the base station.
